Mid-Atlantic Committee on the Ocean Update
After two years, the MACO Steering Committee Chair is transitioning from Kevin Hassell of New Jersey to Mike Snyder of New York.
The steering committee was set up to guide conversations, priorities, and goals of MACO, which brings together multi-level government and non-governmental groups to collaborate on enhancing the vitality of the Mid-Atlantic region ocean ecosystem and economy. Mike Snyder will serve as chair from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2023.
“I’m excited and honored to take over as MACO Chair and greatly appreciative for the strong leadership of MACO’s outgoing chair, Kevin Hassell. Through his work and the dedication of our state, federal and tribal partners, MACO has a strong collaborative foundation which we can continue to build. Over the next two years I look forward to exploring new and inclusive ways to address our most pressing ocean priorities including responsible renewable energy development.” Mike Snyder, Ocean and Great Lakes Program Manager, New York State Department of State
MACO held the Third Annual Ocean Forum virtually, from May 3-6. Over the course of four days, MACO took a deep dive into some of our most pressing priorities including climate change, renewable energy and diversity, equity, inclusivity, and justice. We are pleased to provide you with the downloadable Forum Summary and the recordings of the ocean forum.
